Can a nation be changed?
“If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” 2 Chronicles 7:14
Do we have a big enough perspective/faith that drives us on to do our part in prayer for our land?
On 19th June, people of all ages gathered at the Royal International Pavillion in Llangollen for the Call Cymru to cry out to God for the Welsh nation. The day was the culmination of a 3-year journey, but we are also keenly aware that it was just “one step on the journey” for our land.
Young people took a key role in leading the event. Over 120 people were involved, leading different sections of the day which included personal repentance, prayer for Welsh leaders, prayer for reconciliation between generations as well as between the Welsh and the English. There was also a call for this generation of young people to rise up and reach their friends for Christ.
Here’s what one 16 year old wrote:
“I really think that something started at the Call. Jeremiah 1:9-10 (The Message Remix) - "God reached out, touched my mouth, and said, ‘Look! I've just put my words in your mouth - hand delivered! See what I've done? I've given you a job to do among nations and governments - a red-letter day! Your job is to pull up and tear down, take apart and demolish, and then start over, building and planting.’”
I think God's using us to tear down all those barriers that have been put in place by the youth of this nation. And then he'll begin planting his seed among us again. We've started demolishing and began to plant new seed….”
There was a very real sense that the day was just a beginning. Links were forged which we trust will give rise to much more as God takes us on from here.

Prayer through the night for Parliament
On June 8th, Kestin House hosted an impromptu all-night prayer vigil for the Houses of Parliament. The intercessory prayer movement ’24-7 Prayer’ organised a 24-7 prayer week at the Palace of Westminster during 8th to15th June (check out their website – www.24-7prayer.com for the background story) and they sought groups to join them and pray overnight each day of the week.
Sharon Eason and I decided to organise a vigil at Crusaders and several of Crusaders’ team turned the conference room into a prayer room complete with a huge map of the UK, created using cut up road maps. During the 12-hour prayer marathon, we were joined by members of local churches, to pray for the Government and our leaders in Westminster. God gave us a number of pictures and Scriptures, including the part in 1 Kings where Soloman asks for wisdom to govern the people correctly.

Beds, Bucks & Herts (BBH) Half Night of Prayer - Fri 2nd July
Recently, we’ve had a growing concern to put prayer at the heart of Crusader work in this area.
Those of us who came (representing 4 BBH groups, 2 from NW London and the area committee) spent time praying for national Crusaders, Scotland, Wales, Ireland, Cru Holidays, Spree, Re:Act, Crusoe (especially those going from BBH groups). We then focused on prayer and praise requests gathered from groups in BBH and NW London.
It was a very worthwhile evening, (the time went quickly!) we enjoyed times of fellowship over excellent food and felt we engaged with God over very real challenges and encouragements that face the local groups.

How will you spend 2005’s Week of Prayer??
The 2005 Crusader Week of Prayer will be held between Wednesday 9th and Wednesday 16th February 2005. In the next edition of Link, we will be providing a detailed prayer guide for stimulating your intercession during this vital week for Crusaders. However, we want to go one better than that! We want to organise a whole week of completely unbroken prayer – a 24-7 Prayer week!
We will be hosting a 24-7 Prayer room at Kestin House and we will be looking for Crusader Groups and individual supporters to join us either at home or at our Kestin House prayer room to take a turn during our unbroken week of prayer.
More details on www.crusaders.org.uk and in the next edition of Link, so make a note of the Week of Prayer (9 - 16 Feb 2005) and get involved!!
